Practice Makes Permanent

11/01/2021

Last year I had the pleasure of helping coach my son's basketball team. Every practice we would reinforce the fundamentals. We would pass, we would shoot, we would box out, we would shoot free throws, we would do defensive slides. We would teach the boys to practice correctly, and repeat. We spent a lot of time on the fundamentals, and we practiced the way we wanted to play.
Ultimately, it's going to work that way - however you prepare is how you will perform. Practice doesn't make perfect. Practice makes permanent. If you want to perform at a high level, you have to practice at a high level. Basketball players shoot, pass, and rebound. Baseball players take grounders and fly balls, and they take swings in the cages. Dancers return to the barre. Musicians perform scales.
Whatever endeavors we pursue, there are fundamental practices that we build upon. How are your fundamentals? Have you developed some bad habits? I want to celebrate you accomplishing your goals. Coaching can help you identify how to overcome obstacles in your path.
